AN ARTISTIC AND HUMAN ADVENTURE

Led by Euromusic, the Miroirs - Opéra Lyric & Co festival has been celebrating the richness and diversity of classical and contemporary music for three years. A true space for artistic encounters, Miroirs - Opéra Lyric & co has welcomed exceptional musicians over the years, who have become true friends of the festival.


Miroirs is also part of a continuing friendly and musical adventure that has been going on for nearly 30 years with loyal partner orchestras, who support our artistic approach with passion. Anchored in a shared artistic requirement and a long-standing relationship of trust, these collaborations constitute the essence of the Miroirs festival and contribute to maintaining a high level of excellence from one edition to the next.

 

In addition, there are major partnerships with institutions such as the Paris Opera Academy, which allow young artists to perform in an exceptional professional setting. The final of the Voix des Outre-mers Competition is also part of the festival, showcasing talent from all of France's overseas territories.

BACH AND THE FUTURE 

A unique encounter between music and dance, a journey through eras and styles under the majestic vaults of the Sainte-Chapelle.

This show brings together prima ballerina Myriam Ould-Braham and Paris Opera principal Mickaël Lafon, offering a vibrant interpretation of works from Bach to Piazzolla. Between baroque and tango, the bodies become instruments, dialoguing with the strings in a choreography where classical rigor embraces freedom of movement. Conceived as a mirror between tradition and modernity, this show sublimates the expressive power of dance and musical virtuosity.

Bach's music, with its perfect architecture, finds a unique resonance in the dancers' ethereal grace, while Piazzolla's captivating rhythms infuse an intense and passionate energy. Each note, each gesture, each breath weaves a dialogue between emotion and technique, between classical heritage and contemporary audacity. The presence of Myriam Ould-Braham, the embodiment of delicacy and precision, as well as that of Mickaël Lafon, a talented performer with a strong elegance, gives this show a unique dimension. A celebration of dance and music, where styles intersect and intertwine to offer a suspended moment of striking beauty.

Recomposed Classics – From Vivaldi to Purcell is a reinterpretation

daring of the lyrical repertoire, a dialogue between tradition and

modernity carried by exceptional artists. The voice of Arielle

Dombasle blends with the virtuoso movements of choreographer and dancer Yaman Okur.

This program revisits classical works, reinterpreting them through a staging where the

music, voice and dance intertwine in the same breath

artistic. The Baroque aesthetic, with its ornamental richness and theatrical expressiveness, blends here into a contemporary universe where every note, every gesture becomes

an act of creation. Arielle Dombasle, artist of many talents

facets, breathes a unique sensitivity into these mythical pages,

while Yaman Okur, a dancer from hip-hop and freestyle movement, reinvents gestures

classic by bringing it a new and captivating energy.

The elegance of the strings of the Classik Ensemble underlines these contrasts, weaving a thread between the eras and offering a show where emotion and virtuosity come together for a

unique sensory experience.

Bel Canto is a celebration of vocal art at its peak, where virtuosity and expressiveness unite in an exceptional concert. Under the vaults of the Sainte-Chapelle, two dazzling voices, mezzo-soprano Marine Chagnon and soprano Jeanne Gérard, come together to revive the most beautiful arias and duets from the bel canto repertoire, accompanied on the piano by Morgane Fauchois. Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti are featured in this program, conceived as a tribute to the finesse of ornate singing and the purity of melodic lines.

Bel Canto, a school of elegance and breath, demands absolute mastery of phrasing and vocal agility, qualities embodied by Marine Chagnon and Jeanne Gérard, two artists with luminous timbres and a keen sense of theater. From the sparkling lightness of Rossini to the poignant emotion of Bellini, by way of the exalted lyricism of Donizetti, each page resonates with a rare intensity, carried by the subtle and refined accompaniment of Morgane Fauchois. A suspended moment, where the art of singing deploys all its grace and power.

ROMANTICISM

An immersion into the romantic universe, where poetry and music intertwine to give rise to intimate and moving expressiveness. The soprano Elsa Dreisig, with her refined sensitivity, lends her voice to Dichterliebe, a masterpiece of German Lied. This cycle of 16 songs, a true musical confession, oscillates between passion and disillusionment, following the turmoil of an idealized love that is ultimately lost. Each piece explores infinite shades of emotion.

Alongside her, violinist Nikola Nikolov and pianist Romain Louveau engage in a lyrical and virtuosic dialogue.

In this music filled with contrasts and depth, the violin sings with heartrending expressiveness. The program also highlights Clara Schumann, with her Romances for violin and piano — works of great sensitivity, where melodic elegance blends with rich expressivity.

 

The musical and personal story of Clara and Robert Schumann is one of the most beautiful chapters of Romanticism. A prodigious pianist, Clara was not only Robert's muse, but also his interpreter and confidante. Their relationship, marked by mutual admiration and profound artistic complicity, gave birth to some of the most intimate and passionate works in music. This concert thus celebrates the full richness of German Romanticism, where music becomes a mirror of the soul’s passions and torments — between ecstasy and melancholy.

Rediscover the most famous opera in the repertoire in a stripped-down yet equally powerful version.

Marie-Laure Garnier, with her magnetic stage presence, takes on the role of Carmen with all the passion and fire the character demands. Around her, a brilliant cast brings to life the key figures of this fiery drama: Paul Gaugler as Don José, torn between love and obsession; Livia Louis Joseph Dogué as Micaëla, pure and devoted; and Edwin Fardini as the charismatic Escamillo.

The orchestra is replaced by piano, entrusted to the expert hands of Edward Liddall, who highlights the musical richness of Bizet’s score while preserving the dramatic intensity of the work. Guiding the audience through this tale of love and tragedy is countertenor Fabrice di Falco, who serves as narrator, adding a fresh and captivating dimension to the storytelling.

This intimate format allows us to reach the very essence of Carmen, where voices and emotions take center stage, offering a moving interpretation of Bizet’s masterpiece.

In this condensed version, the very essence of Mozart’s masterpiece — one of the most brilliant operas in the repertoire — is preserved, where love, cunning, and social satire intertwine with genius, highlighting the most iconic arias and ensembles from this deliciously witty comedy.

 

Performed by Ensemble Vox 21, under the direction of Evann Loget-Raymond, and the Classik Ensemble, led by David Braccini, this concert showcases the full musical and dramatic finesse of The Marriage of Figaro. By turns tender, sparkling, and profoundly human, the score brings to life a vibrant gallery of characters: the clever Figaro, the spirited Susanna, the jealous Count Almaviva, and the sensitive Countess — all caught in a web of intrigue where Mozart combines musical virtuosity with psychological insight.

With such famous arias as Non più andrai, Voi che sapete, and Dove sono, this streamlined version offers a dynamic and impactful take on the opera, refocusing attention on the liveliness of the text and the emotion of the melodies. A dazzling tribute to one of the greatest achievements of opera buffa, where Mozart’s wit and genius shine brilliantly.

A musical journey where voice and piano explore the nuances of vocal art, from Romanticism to musical theatre. The deep and expressive voice of Axelle Saint-Cirel joins forces with pianist Jeff Cohen for a program blending opera, French mélodie, and American standards.

 

This recital highlights iconic and refined pieces from the repertoire. Gounod and Bizet open the evening with passionate, captivating accents. Saint-Saëns, Schumann, and Rachmaninov then invite the audience on a poetic and intimate journey, where the voice becomes the echo of the most subtle emotions. The dramatic power of Offenbach, the delicacy of Barber, and the timeless elegance of Cole Porter complete this multifaceted program.

Academy of the Paris National Opera

Poetry and music intertwine in a journey to the very heart of Romanticism, within the intimate realm of the French vocal repertoire. Under the musical direction of an exceptional ensemble, this program brings together young talents from the Academy of the Paris Opera, accompanied by the Sextet of the Paris Opera and Frédéric Laroque, concertmaster violinist.

Voices, supported by the finesse of the pianistic playing, bring to life works of poignant expressiveness. The evening opens with Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été, an iconic song cycle where melody merges with the depth of the text. Fauré, master of refinement, is honored with La Bonne Chanson, a cycle inspired by Verlaine’s poetry, where lightness and tenderness blend with delicate melancholy.

A suspended moment, Lekeu’s Nocturne adds a lyrical touch in a deeply sensitive atmosphere. Far from the spectacular, this program highlights the subtlety of expression and the richness of vocal timbre in perfect harmony between the performers.

On this Good Friday, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, an absolute masterpiece of sacred music, evokes the poignant pain of the Virgin Mary in the face of crucifixion, in a strikingly expressive prayer, oscillating between gentleness and lamentation. The fusion of timbres lends this work a rare intensity, between contemplation and splendor.

ACT VI: ORFEO

A stripped-down yet striking rediscovery of one of the earliest masterpieces in the history of opera. A true musical revolution when it premiered in 1607, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo fuses the emotion of song with the power of narrative to create a lyrical drama.

In this version, the essence of the work is preserved, highlighting the most striking moments in the journey of Orpheus, the mythological hero seeking to bring his beloved Eurydice back from the Underworld. Between the exaltation of happiness, the pain of loss, and the tragedy of fate, Monteverdi brings voice and instruments into dialogue with a moving intensity.

The performers bring to life the opera's most poignant arias, enhancing the beauty of the melodic lines and the richness of the harmonies. , Voice and music blend in a pure expression of the human feeling at the heart of the first opera in history.
